Pet Guardian Program
In fulfilling its mission, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) wants to help pet owners prepare for a future when they are no longer able to care for their beloved pets. Thus, HSPPR has launched the Pet Guardian Program to assist pet owners who wish to secure a loving future for their pets.
By enrolling in the HSPPR Pet Guardian Program, owners will receive peace of mind in knowing that their pets will be compassionately cared for while HSPPR seeks a new loving home for their loyal companions.
Participation in the Pet Guardian Program is available to those owners who make an annual gift to HSPPR and join the Legacy Guild by including HSPPR as a beneficiary of their estate plan.
Once enrolled in the program, please be sure:
- Draft your will properly, so that the HSPPR Pet Guardian Program is granted legal custody of your pet
- Designate a friend, relative or the executor of your estate to serve as an emergency caretaker who contacts HSPPR to schedule the pick-up of your pet
- Carry a Pet Alert Card with you, listing this temporary caretaker in case of emergency or death.
- Complete a Pet Profile
- Give one copy to the executor of the will, another to the attorney handling the estate, and a third to HSPPR. Our staff will reach out to you annually to update your pet's information.
